personalized approach to mental health can benefit you.
At Brighter Days Mental Health & Wellness, my mission is to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and integrative mental health care that addresses the whole person. I am dedicated to enhancing the well-being of others by combining traditional psychiatric methods with holistic approaches, including lifestyle interventions, psychotherapy, and mind-body medicine. My goal is to empower individuals to achieve lasting mental wellness, improve their quality of life, and foster resilience through personalized, evidence-based treatment plans. I’m committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every client feels heard, understood, and valued.
My career in healthcare began in 1992 as a medical assistant in El Paso, Texas. I became a certified EMT in 1996, driven by a passion for helping those in need. After exploring other fields, including property management and a brief stint as a flight attendant, I eventually returned to my true calling—healthcare. In 2013, I became a Certified Nurse Assistant, working in all areas of the hospital, and earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arizona College in 2017.
After becoming a registered nurse, I spent three years working at Arizona State Hospital, where I provided care to individuals with serious mental illness (SMI). I later transitioned to an Outpatient Treatment Clinic, treating patients with SMI and substance use disorders. In 2022, I earned my Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health from Maryville University, allowing me to serve patients across the lifespan. Since then, I have worked as a nurse practitioner at a community health clinic, treating a variety of mental health conditions.
Throughout my career, I often felt limited by the constraints of the traditional healthcare system. Insurance companies frequently dictated the medications my patients could access, leaving them without the treatments they truly needed. Many psychotropic medications, while effective, come with significant metabolic side effects such as diabetes, obesity, or hyperlipidemia, which can have a lasting impact on a patient’s overall health.
I realized there had to be a better way to address mental health—one that not only managed symptoms but also sought to uncover the root causes of mental illness. This frustration inspired me to create Brighter Days Mental Health and Wellness, where I could offer a more comprehensive, integrative approach to care.
At Brighter Days, I practice an integrative approach to mental health care. While medications can be life-saving and are often a necessary component of treatment, I strive to dig deeper. I work to uncover the root causes of mental health issues, which often stem from nutritional deficiencies, gut health imbalances, or lifestyle factors. By addressing physical, mental, and spiritual health in unison, I believe true healing can occur. My goal is to create personalized treatment plans that empower patients to take an active role in their healing process.
At Brighter Days, the patient experience begins with a 90-minute initial consultation, where we take a deep dive into your medical history, lifestyle, and overall well-being. From there, I make personalized recommendations that may include diagnostic lab work, supplements, prescription medications, and lifestyle modifications. Follow-up appointments last 30 to 45 minutes, during which we review your progress, discuss lab results, and adjust your treatment plan as needed.
What truly sets my practice apart is my own life experience. I have personal experience with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and panic attacks. I’ve faced personal trauma and have loved ones who have struggled with bipolar disorder and substance use. These experiences allow me to empathize deeply with my patients and offer them compassionate, personalized care. I am committed to being warm, accepting, transparent, and always honest with those I treat.
When I’m not working with patients, I love spending time with my husband, who is my favorite recreational partner. Together, we enjoy traveling, spending time in nature, swimming, and off-roading. Summers are for lake days, and cooler weather calls for outdoor adventures. We are blessed with five children and seven grandchildren, and we treasure the time we spend with our growing family.
We believe that true healing begins with understanding. At Brighter Days, we embrace a holistic approach to mental health, integrating traditional therapies with innovative techniques to address the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of well-being. Our commitment is to provide a supportive environment where our clients feel understood and valued.
